The bike I miss most was my pink quamen which got stolen out of a security room in my apartment in the middle of winter! I had just moved in, and no one knew I even had the bike there, the room had no windows, and someone trudged through 2 feet of snow and crow bared a steel security door just to get at it! It had no sprocket or chain, no brakes, 24 laced front wheel, the seat post was welded to the frame and had rusted, the grips were white hocket tape that had turned brown from my hand, and the frame was cracked! hell it had those UBER heavy WTP 34-0 forks on it, and some relathed GT show pegs which were smooth with no grip. It made no sense! Hell the front tire was bald and the treads were showing through! WTF

Well- only one of those hasn't been mine at some point (the G5, grey one, used to be Alfred's).
I work- I get paid- I save $$$.
I sell a bunch of frames & parts both locally and on the web.
Right now I just have one complete bike, the Gamma, and a spare frame (Simple V2, which I might sell soon).
And yes, I'm among the worst frame whores out there! ^_^

The shame about it is that I highly doubt anybody will ever ride this crankles and brakeless bike again

Here is my Quamen.  I bought the frame on ebay for $150.00.  The guy bought an original G7 and had it chromed, i calculated it out to about $550.00.  I dont know why he sold it but i bought it.  The only thing wrong with it was that one side of the euro threading needed to be retapped.  Simple, especially when you have friends at a bike shop. Anyways, I am going for the old school look but with updated and current parts. Its not so much of a bike for functionality rather than looks.

Oldschool rocks

Half ass my tricks?  sure... I've learned quite a bit in the past year.. I've already jacked a bunch of the tricks I saw marsan doing at battle at the beach, just to spite him because he said I couldn't learn them on pedal... I just don't throw my bike in the learning process... thats all... So I have to throw my bike to not half ass my tricks or something? Do you for some reason think throwing your bike makes you ride better? The worst of it is how much of a baby you are about it.... BOO HOO I BROKE MY QUAMEN CAUSE I THREW IT AT A WALL!!! QUAMEN SUCKS CAUSE THEY CAN"T HOLD UP TO MY TEMPER TANTRUMS.... Boo hoo cry baby.... You get all defensive as soon as someone mentions you chucking your bike to be the cause of its broken state.... But I guess its quamens fault for not making a product that can withstand your PMS... I told you before you got that frame you need to be riding a 7lb hoffman ep if you wanna throw sh*t... The one I had got backed over by a car and was still straight...
So what trick category does bike throwing fall into? Jumping? flipping?
Maybe if you didn't throw your bike, your frames wouldn't break... Instead of blaming it on being a used frame... how about you blame it on what really caused it to break?? How about you quit beating around the bush and just fess up to being a 2yr old who throws their bikes and can't take it when someone points it out.... Even your feeble insults have gotten down to the 2yr old level...
Title: Re: Post pics of your QUAMEN

Quick fact, I haven't thrown this Quamen once since it was put together back in December.

Kind of throws a kink in the whole "YOU THROW YER BIKE FAGGOT" theory doesn't it

edit: btw how are those bar hikers coming. And what tricks did you learn of Marsans that you did just to "spite him". I'd really love to see what awesome trix you're working on these days and I'm sure everyone else would love a tranquilized compilation video from the last year or so!
Title: Re: Post pics of your QUAMEN
Post by: tranqulized on February 15, 2007, 10:00:24 PM
Sure you havn't thrown it....
Just like you said didn't throw your last bike at all... all those people that saw you throw your last one must have been seeing things... and that lil nippet of video my on my girl friends phone of justin miller riding at batb that has you in the back ground kicking your bike down.... must have been some really good camera trickery....
Your just a bike chucker... Don't blame quamen for your faults...

tricks I jacked from marsan:
juggler holding onto the seat the whole time regular and x-foot...
x-foot half packer through the bars? ride in from a switch steam boat and swing your free leg to peg behind the bars...
Grip hikers are still as I said... no ride out... sketchy ride in...

a video of this years progress? I was actually thinking my bikeflat profile could use an updated video... I should have a video soon enough... Just need to get a camera up to chenga 2 along with someone willing to film me....

You've got a bit of a nerve asking someone to ban 'tranq' TJ. He may have suggested something that you consider to be untrue - but your petulant behaviour forthwith is just as petty and tedious. Ignoring 'tranq' would have been a far better course of action.

Yeah I agree. Will someone ban tranq for starting ****?

wait wait wait..... who started what?
Look at this thread... you started the bs here before I ever had an account!
http://www.global-flat.com/smf/index.php?topic=2494.0
whats that? whos started what? I didn't even have a global flat account till I saw you sh*t talkin me... so, low and behold... here I am... You instigated me onto this forum tj... I didn't start anything... YOU Should be the one banned tj... You had no justification in calling that review bullsh*t and it was just slandering... and as I see in the list of rules here.... that baseless attack on me violates them... Defending yourself however... is not against the rules... I have not violated any rules...
And if you want to get technical... You started this bullsh*t years ago on pedal by saying that I couldn't do any tricks with out knowing a damn thing about me... and here you continue it... so... don't go around falsely saying I started sh*t.... I've tried numerous times to end it... but you wont let any of it go...

well heres the other thing... NO one can ban me from any forum on the internet... I've been banned from a few forums only to pop back on there 10 minutes later, and those admins tried everything they could... I even took over an admin account on one forum... Any forum admin should well know that banning things on the internet is not feasible... No one can really be banned if they know how to use a computer... If you know how to use a computer, you can't be banned from anything on the internet... they can lock out an account... they can lock out an ip address.... but they can't lock you from using a different computer with another ip address and another email address... Nick couldn't ban anyone from pedal, so what makes you think anyone can be banned here? All those people nick banned just came back with different names using computers at different locations... banning by ip address does not work at all... most of the users of the internet have dynamic ip addresses, so they change all the time... you would have to block an entire address block, which would effectivly ban other people who didn't do anything wrong... They would have to ban the entire north american address block to ban me... and even that wouldn't be 100% cause I could just use a foreign proxy.... and blocking by email address is a waste of time because any asshole can create a new one anywhere they want... They would have to change the system under which the accounts are created to really block anyone... and to do that would just ruin the forum for everyone.... and even then it wouldn't be 100%... It would cost a lot of money to turn this forum into a secure service... and thats just the tradeoff for a cheap forum... A lot of people don't realize these forums open you up to a plethora of security issues... I used pedal to get into your computer as well as a few other pedal users pc's... and people could just as easily do that with this forum... If a mod were to ask me how that works I will gladly explain it to a mod so they are aware of how that happens.... hell I'll even show them how if they want... but I wont openly explain how to use the forum to get into someones computer because it will instigate a lot of trouble... Because these forums don't have expensive security features.... everyone using it is vulnerable to a MITM type of attack that can lead into your computer... Most web hosting companies don't have an IDS in place that can detect that style of MITM exploit...

Tj, rewelding your quamen is only a bandaid on a wound that needs stitches.... get a 6lb frame and you should be able to throw it all you want.... Your not one of those weight weenies you've forever made fun of, so what do you need a 4lb frame for?

and marsan... the x-foot ones are f*cking hard... I can only get 1 full pass I can't do multiples... yet.... They do seem easier if you spin into them though cause the momentum will pull the frame under your arm easier.. it's just squirlier... but the pass under your arm is easier...

Tj and tranq you guys are pathetic. All you 2 did on pedal was write page after page of nonsense. You 2 should just get married, so the rest of us do not have to see you idiots fight. Get a life.

Guys, don't bring the argument that you have started on Pedal here, on Global-Flat. This is a nice forum and we should keep it clean.
BTW what is PM for? As I understand, the argument here is only between tranqulized and TJ. Why do we need to read about that?

there's another delta 2 with 7 mix of colors.i'll shoot it tonite.ok i'm out to the parking lot.

WTF

^ dude you wanna be carefull i got some paint like that. Painting it unless you take some SERIOUS time doing it i mean like weeks in an airiated place with heaters and such, on my old frame the paint is VERY fragile, id get it powdercoated if you want such a crazy paint job.

Just waiting for the wheels. I'll take like two-three weeks to be ready.

TJ I advise you to try a psychopower. I rode one last weekend and feels just amazing. I was surprised to adapt so easilly to a18.6 TT -but the tube is so low that feels like a 19TT --OK you need the right seat post and a short seat.
with a 13.5 rear end back wheel tricks just flow...

I actually just emailed martti asking him to make a 19 TT version of that frame. Ironic.

I just.. seriously wouldn't be able to ride something that small with how big I am. I took a good two inches off my 99er just to gain a little extra room to move around with.

Well, I think the wheelbase of a psychopower is the same if no longer than that of your current ride, but you would need to ride in order to see if you fit into the frame's current geometry.

i think you're out of luck though coz those delta3s are not in stock :) next batch is scheduled next month (that if Quamen can keep their production pace)

on the other hand, i have 1 nearly new 18.3" white delta3 for sale if you're interested (haha i feel so cruel now haha). it's just simply too short for me and i didn't realized it when i ordered one. i'm 6'1" btw. the lardset cups are included and painted white as well.

the pic is a few pages back in this thread.

Actually, mine's has been confirmed shipped already... I think I basically got the last one Pat had, because it was in stock when I ordered it, then the out of stock notice was posted afterwards! Lucked out... hehe
At only 5'7", the 18.3 won't be too bad for me, but I will probably hack the nose of my seat off to space things out a bit. I'm just debating whether to keep it in the stock black or send it off to my local powdercoaters to have her done custom style...

it is interesting how people tend to oversee the effect of the pushed seat-tube in the new quamen frames. when you say 18.3 you're really talking of  the equivalent of what a 17.5TT  frame would be in terms of the wheel base.

a 19.2 TT delta is equivalent to like a 18.5TT frame/wheel base

You're obviously not doing much jumping through the frame type stuff. My sinus has a shorter wheelbase than my Quamen ever did, however, there is much more room (yes .1 is a lot more believe it or not when you're six foot four with size 13 feet) because the space is lost in the back end and not the front. It boggles my mind that people want smaller bikes when it's much easier to just take the room from the back without sacrificing room in the front.

yups, i did realize it but the thing is the 18.3 thingy.
i really really like the 'lowness' of the newer delta though and also these are slimmer and helps overall look more 'streamlined'

It's a highly traveled square in old town and you're supposed to walk your bike. :)  Plus, the popo station is like 1/2 a block away.  But it's a sick spot to show off for the ladies!  We actually rode there last night and got some footage without any hastle... maybe I'll put it up if it is any good....I can't remember, I was super drunk and just filming, so you know how that goes!  It was my 'mental day off' from riding yesterday. :)  All I remember is 'german cyclist' had a huge croud built up with time machines on the pedals!

Yesterday night was awesome.  I was all pumped and ready for more.  But i didnt want to pull anything crazy and injure myself in front of the crowd.  At least we have some footage, I am just curious of how the quality turned out.

you mean headtube... not headset....
thats the problem with this type of frame design...
the focal point of stress is in the center of the headtube instead of spread out on the top and bottom like traditional frame design.

well, after you strip the frame you have to polish it really good. Aftert that you can take it to one of those welders that deal with moflers. they can help you flame those parts were the original big welds were, and with a bit of heat bring out the original welding blueish colors.
the rest... take it tu the powder coaters and ask them to use some ambarish tone clearcoat.
it's a lot of work though. good luck

shizm, i'm not the OG owner, it was another guy on here from Central NY.  The dent on the rear CS was from him.  this thing was pretty gross when i got it.  spray painted yellow (mustard) and pretty bad at that.  with the headset and the BB painted over.  i stripped it and did the best i could, and it looks like moncho stepped it up and made her B, E, A, you tee full!!

Yes, I did.
I can't believe how much time Piky & Rosa spent chatting on the net with you. ^_^
The thing is Luis Elias, it was custom made for someone else who then sold it to me having never used it.
The frame is great, just not to the geo I would get on a custom frame.
Hopefully there's hope for me in the near future...

Excuse the bad quality photographs, but I thought I'd show my new pride and joy, that I bought from Nika from this board . Don't worry about the bars being so pushed forward, I find it helps me initially with getting hang 5's again (it's been a very long time  ^_^ )
It keeps pretty good company in our workshops, and it's kind of our team pitbike, so if I can be bothered, I may ruin it by painting it team colours  ;D
Does anyone have the Quamen logo in illustrator or corel draw format? as we have our own vinyl plotter.

i think you can try the logo on quamen site then use coreltrace to trace it. and redraw it for maximum result. it's not that hard actually.

Is that something that you can do legally, without Quamen's authorization? I doubt it...

Post by: PhilMorrison on August 10, 2007, 10:37:37 AM
lol  ;D. I'm pretty sure Quamen wouldn't mind me replacing the decals on my Quamen bike  :P. If I was copying them to sell, then it'd be a different matter.

Thanks Rully. I actually tried that exactly but with illustrator trace as it's easier. Unfortunately the logo on the Quamen site isn't really high enough res for it to be easy :(

Title: Re: Post pics of your QUAMEN
Post by: rully on August 11, 2007, 03:35:03 AM
actually you don't need it to be hi res or big size... it's just so you know the guidelines and then you can draw it manually. once it's in vector mode, it doesn't matter how big the size you want.. it will follow with no quality degradation.

yeah, i wasn't a big fan of the swissmiss bars either until i saw them in person on my buddy's KGB.  I think they look a lot better in person and they're so light.  I hate to be a weight whore, but I'm fairly short without a ton of muscle, so the super short frame and the swissmiss bars work out great for me.

Quamens are sexy

(except for all the deltas) they are too damn short!

Short for short ass people like me (5'6") !   The delta2 is the sexiest frame ever for a short rider! Well, except for maybe a garuda...  *bow*

Is this gonna be a production frame or is this a custom ? Can I get a better pic of the linkage ? whats the travel ?

100% CNC'ed... crazy!
Title: Re: Post pics of your QUAMEN
Post by: griOt on October 04, 2007, 06:03:29 PM
The frame is still a prototype and will go into production sometime in the future. It will be made in limited quantities and probably freakin expensive. I dont have a camera anymore. I found this pic from the internet. We will post up pics on our website, but i dont know if we are going to do close-ups of the linkage yet. here is more info about the frame:

-downhill/free ride design
-100% CNCd frame which means all the pieces are connected with zero tolerance; you get a perfectly made frame, rigid too
-the travel is "only" 8 inches right now
-designed to be very progressive
-interchangeable bb bearing size
-mid size bearing for the pivot
-the swingarm snaps together before welding; more material certain sections

Im stilll learning about this science project. The seatpost is offseted forward so you can slam the seat and the rear tire will not hit after you bottom out. the swing arm  contracts outward, so the wheelbase doesnt shorten when you land. Basically you can land from extremely high things

Well its interesting... I'm thinking about getting the BMW racelink for next season... or a supercharger for a car i'm building. I'd like to see one. I've ridden the Brooklyn down a few trails @ Diablo (Mt Creek, NJ) and like the setup. Keep me informed...

Its just a normal lardset that most Quamens had until this year. The trick to hide it is to paint it the same color as your frame.

That Quamen really looks good. The frame, bars, stem, pegs, cranks, oh damn....the whole thing looks hot.  ;D

I'd buy a set of those bars when/if they come out. Adjustable rise and backsweep , common, you just can't beat that.

Yes, custom-made Dagmar 4 bars, 7.5 tall, 22.5 wide, zero up and backsweep.

It's my buddy's ride - not mine. This is bike #2. He still has the stealth one. :P

No Ares components   So what about the grips, grip stops, compression bolt, tubes and valve caps?

Fashion sellout ^_^ ^_^ ^_^   I'll let him know!

so, are you not Yeti?  if you are I must emphasize you're a fashion sell out. But I like this bike better, haha.

if your are not Yeti, welcome to the forum.  Yeti, was for some time one of the most active participants here, but then he apparently got sick and stopped posting although rumor says his parents took him to a internet-addiction rehab program and that's why he doesn't post anymore.

MUTT'S "MYSTERY BIKE" SETUP IS TOP SECRET
SORRY NO PICS ARE ALLOWED

IT IS NAMED THE "MYSTERY BIKE" BECAUSE IT HAS SCOOBY
DOO STICKERS ON IT AND IS NAMED AFTER THE MYSTERY VAN
AKA THE VEHICLE USED BY SCOOBY, FRED, VERMA, SHAGGY AND
THEM FOR SOLVING MYSTERIES!

SOMEONE THROW SOME SCOOBY SNACKS THIS WAY!!!

OK, I didn't mean to be rude. I honestly hope Yeti is doing well. I mean I don't know if something bad actually happened to him. I hope is not the case. Please ask him to write sometime soon, or even through you.

here's a spy shot of your old "Custom Red Quamen" ...tried the brake plate thing but ended up going with a Dia-Compe 901 brake in the back, its way lighter than a brake plate and u brake set up...

the 901 brake fits alot closer to the frame than trying to get a Nippon brake to work, because the arm on a Nippon where the barrel adjuster goes would have stuck out alot and hit the crank arm

need to get a gyro and then ill post pics of it complete...

All the quamens look sweet. Why does so many Quamen frames run 74.5 or mellower HT angles? When so many riders and companies now are going with atleast 75.

Does anyone have pics of the old Quamen bottle opener frame? I think it may have been a street or hybrid frame.

WTF

Anyways, I am going for the old school look but with updatezzzd and currenzzt parts. Its not so much of a bike for functionality rather than looks.

Oldschool rocks

Cant get enough of this bike, I really.. Really like it alot. Tried a good amount of specs/ frames out this past year. And im confident this is where ill be for awhile/if it breaks, a cyphers the only replacement. Only complaints are the super wide stays i have loaded up with washers. Yaya i posted it a million times, but im bored..its snowy out, and im lookin to pull it apart and respray it.

Big props to Quamen for all your help! The seat tube has been left un-machined for added strength. I'm pretty stoked on this setup right now if you couldn't tell  ;D

My first and only Quamen was the G3 Skyblue.I loved this frame. It was 75.5 or 76.Super short rear t. Im looking to get another one in the future,G4-G8.Wish i could post a pic.Maybe"Moncho"has a pic.I sold it to him a few years back. Before he knew i was gonna sell it,i was goin to trade it for a G4 darkblue(nice color)euro but when i saw it,the owner had Cut the "seat tube".The whole inside of the frame.I was like WTF???So Moncho got it. But eventually the G3 got to back to the frame cutter and well it was a Sad End.
