Title: BARBADOS BIKE PROJECT
Post by: flt trix rider43 on March 26, 2009, 12:50:39 AM
we need to help another island boy...from BARBADOS
which is in the CARIBBEAN ISLANDS and is above TRINDAD
and in the island group of ST LUCIA, ST VINCENT and
GRENADINA.

GRENADA IS BETWEEN TRINDAD AND THIS ISLAND GROUP
WHICH INCLUDES BARBADOS!...SOUTHERN CARIBBEAN!

He lives in BRIDGETOWN on BARBADOS and is in need of parts
and if you look on the video he has no cranks, pedals, chain and
spocket and probably needs also atleast one chain tensioner along
with tires etc and here is his my space so get ahold of him and hopefully
he has a SKYBOX OR THERE IS A WAY TO GET PARTS TO HIM.

I HAVE ALOT OF RIDERS WHO I ALREADY HELP AND THE LIST IS LIKE
6 RIDERS ALREADY INCLUDING TREVLON IN TRINDAD!

I have a complete drivetrain for him consisting of Odyssey thermals, a Quamen 24t sprocket, Ares pedals and a chain ready for him. I just need someone in California to receive a bike and divide it into 3 boxes for me.
I'm paying all shipping costs too, so there is NO expense for the middleman.

SHIPPING IT TWICE IS A PROBLEM

BUT YEAH WE WILL FIGURE IT OUT AS YEAH
THIS GUY NEEDS A CRANK DRIVE SYSTEM AND
PROBABLY TIRES.....THE HARO MASTER FRAME
IS ANCIENT TOO AND IT IS AMAZING HE CAN
DO SO MANY CURRENT TRICKS ON THAT OLD
OLD FRAME.

IM GOING TO EMAIL HIM THRU MYSPACE AND GET A LIST
OF STUFF HE NEEDS

REGGAE..RED RED RED WINE..BOB MARLEY SINGING IT
SORRY IM LISTENING TO BOB MARLEY..I LOVE REGGAE!

No problem. Shipping by road from Seattle to Cali wont cost much. I will pay all shipping. No need for a skybox.

If I was sending a complete bike to Barbados, thats different, we would definately need a skybox. I can only send a complete drivetrain. Everything else on the bike is allocated for to needy riders.

I just need a middleman to receive and box.

THE PROBLEM I SEE WITH THE BARBADOS RIDER IS THAT HIS PARTS
ARE ANCIENT AND HE REALLY NEEDS MORE THAN JUST THE DRIVETRAIN
AND NEEDS A MAJOR FACE LIFT IN PARTS AND MAYBE A COMPLETE BIKE
AS HE IS RIDING PARTS FROM THE LATE 1980'S TO EARLY 1990'S AND
I WAS HOPING SOMEONE OR PEOPLE COULD DONATE PARTS SO HE COULD
PUT TOGETHER A COMPLETE BIKES AND HAVE A DIALED MODERN FLATLAND BIKE
TO RIDE INSTEAD OF A 1990 HARO MASTER OR WHATEVER THAT MASTER IS.

IF YOU LOOK AT HIS BIKE YOU CAN TELL ALL THE PARTS ARE HELLUVE OLD PARTS
OR MOST OF THEM ARE AND ADDING MODERN PARTS TO ANCIENT PARTS
LIKE THAT HAS TO HELP BUT DOES NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM!

I WAS HOPING HE COME ON THE FORUM AND TALK TO US BUT I DONT THINK HE
HAS ACCESS TO THE INTERNET MUCH AND HE IS MARRIED AND HAS A FAMILY
TOO SO YEAH IT IS SORTA HARD TALKING FOR HIM!

THE PERUVIAN RIDERS YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT ARE THE LIMA RIDERS RIGHT
AND I KNOW THEY NEED HELP ALL THE TIME TOO AS THEY HAVE NO DINEROS
AND THE PARTS ARE VERY HARD TO FIND THERE AND EXPENSIVE TO GET AND
THERE ARE SOME 8-9 FLATLAND RIDERS WHO RIDE AT THE SQUARE THERE
IN CENTRAL LIMA AS I HAVE BEEN THERE BEFORE.

HERE ARE THE NEEDS I SEE RIGHT NOW IN LATIN AMERICAN IN RIDERS AND
WHAT THEY NEED

**TRINIDAD

-THEY NEED TIRES BADLY AS WHERE THEY RIDE IS ROUGH TO VERY ROUGH AND THEY GO THRU TIRES FAST..ALSO NEED SHOES AND KYLE PUT SOME SHOES ON DAMN YOU!!
HEE HEE..JUST KIDDIN. I AM SHIPPING PACKAGES ONCE A MONTH TO TRINIDAD IN
PARTS, TIRES ETC AND IM CHECKING ON SENDING SOME ETHNIES SHOES TO THEM
ALSO BUT THE NEED IS STILL TIRES AND SMALL PARTS LIKE CHAIN TENSIONERS,
TUBES, SLIC CABLES, BAR ENDS, GRIPS, BRAKE LEVELS, PEDALS, CHAINS, HEADSETS,
ETC

PLEASE SEND TO THE FOLLOWING SKYBOX

TREVLON HALL
C/O TRINDAD FLATLAND RIDERS
POS 0296
7620 NW 63RD STREET
MIAMI FL 33166

**BARBADOS RIDER

VIVION..

DONT KNOW WHAT HE NEEDS OR WHERE TO SEND IT BUT ILL POST THE INFO
ONCE I GET IT BUT I THINK AN COMPLETE BIKE IS REALLY NEEDED HERE AS HE RIDES
AN OLD HARO MASTER WITH NO CRANKS/CHAINDRIVE SYSTEM AND THE PARTS HE
HAS ON THE BIKE HE HADS ARE VERY VERY OLD!

**PERUVIAN RIDERS

LIMA--THERE ARE SOME 8-9 FLATLANDERS WHO RIDE IN THE CITY CENTER THAT
I KNOW OF AND THEY ARE ALWAYS IN NEED OF HELP WITH TIRES AND SMALL
PARTS AND IT IS VERY EXPENSIVE TO GET PARTS TO LIMA AS IT IS AT WEST
OF THE ANDES MOUNTIANS AND VERY SECLUDED AREA OF SOUTH AMERICA!

i sent him a text message to check the forum, link as i included that in his email....avl.ride@yahoo.com ......or vivlion@hotmail.com.....

my only problem is that it may cost sending it to my skybox in trinidad then havig to send it ove r to barbados.....so if he does'nt have a easier way to get the stuff...then we'll just have to...

but as you said bro...he's been riding that heavy older frame ahwile now...in fact a few years and what he really needs is an updated frame/bike since he really isnt a beginner....i mean he's been riding crankless ahwile now...so a frame would be a bigger blessing......

to the guy at

hi,

i lived in brabados as a child for 5 month or so...also in bridgetown...kunstform?! would help that guys...just let us know what they need and we will make a decent package for them.

send us an email: fs@kunstform.org

if you know anyone over on your end who can hook him up with an updated frame etc his email is above or you can message me at mine......michaeldepeza@hotmail.com.......

If Kunstform can somehow organize a frame, I think he will be good to go. My drivetrain is cranks, pedals, sprocket and chain which by pure chance, I happen to have spare real soon.
He really needs to join up here and post a pic of his bike. Then he will get more support.
Title: Re: BARBADOS BIKE PROJECT
Post by: flt trix rider43 on March 27, 2009, 09:27:16 AM

paradoxium will be supplying really the
drivetrain of cranks, pedals, chain and pedals etc

heya flatride...heya is that you alex?
yeah if this is alex i can come pick some parts up
and ship them out when i find out how to ship them
and i have some tubes, slic cables, chain tensioner
in quamen pops, grips and barends to send in that
package too so that will set him up with that.

i figure what we need are the following...

-frame-an updated frame that is not 20 years old!!
-forks that are not 15 years old...lol
-bars and stem...more modern than he has
-seat and post..light setup and not weighing 5 pounds!
-GOOD FRONT BRAKE..DIA-TECH ETC....

THIS WOULD BE A GOOD START AND ALONG WITH PARADOXIUM AND MYSELF
SENDING STUFF THEN HE WILL HAVE A PRETTY GOOD START ON GETTING A
PROPER FLATLAND BIKE PUT TOGETHER.

i also emailed him and also p.med him in MYSPACE.COM and hopefully he will
send one back to me so i know how to send this stuff to him.

PARADXIUM...WHAT WE WILL DO IS WHEN I FIND OUT WHAT THE ADDRESS IS..
ILL HAVE YOU SEND THAT PACKAGE FOR VIVLION OF CRANKS, BB, PEDALS,
CHAIN TO MY HOUSE AND ONLY THOSE THINGS AND ILL BOX THEM ALONG
WITH WHAT I HAVE TO SEND TO HIM AND IT WILL GO OUT IN ONE BOX AND HE
WONT HAVE TO PAY AS MUCH IMPORT TAX ON IT SINCE ILL LABEL IT AS A
BIRTHDAY GIFT!! HE MAY NOT PAY ANYHTING BUT YEAH IT SHOULD GO UNDER
ONE BOX FOR THAT BOX AND IF WE CAN GET THE OTHER 5 ITEMS DONATED
THEN WE MIGHT JUST SHIP UNDER ONE BIG BOX AT ONCE IF THINGS FLOW
THE RIGHT WAY! IF NOT THEN WE WILL HAVE TO GO UNDER A SECOND BOX
AND AGAIN SEND EVERYTHING TO MY HOUSE AS I WILL HAVE SOME STUFF
AGAIN TO ADD TO THE BOX TO SEND TO HIM....I GET DISCOUNTED RATES
TOO WHERE I GO TO SEND STUFF AS IT IS A TEAM MUTT/BUSINESS THING.

The only way I can donate the drivetrain is for a middleman to receive and box the bike into 3 boxes. If this doesn't happen it will end up in Australia and Peru and he will miss out.
I often send to South America via Naples, Florida, but I need to keep it local to the West coast to keep shipping costs down.

I think we need to see if he wants bars and stem before sending them, because he has Mike S bars and most likely prefers this. I have noticed bar/stem combos are really popular in the West Indies, most likely Trevlons influence.

Thats a very generous offer of shoes. Thank you.  Would you be able to pm Trevlon directly? He posted in the Trini thread, so you can access his profile there to pm.

1. HELLUVE YEAH IT IS CHEAPER FOR THE SKYBOX TO BARBADOS
BUT HE HAS TO PAY IMPORT TAXES ON ALL THE PACKAGES
SO MAKE SURE IT SAYS "GIFT" ON IT AS UNDER SHIPPING.

2. HA HA YEAH KYLE IS A NUT AND HE JUST WAS NOT WEARING SHOES
THAT DAY HE WAS RIDING AND TREVLON SAYS HE DOES THAT SOMETIMES
WHICH I THINK IS NUTS..BUT HE CAN RIDE BAREFOOT AND SHOES ARE
ALWAYS NEEDED THERE IN TRINIDAD FOR THE RIDERS..ILL GET AHOLD OF
TREVLON TONIGHT AND TRY TO FIGURE OUT SIZES ETC

WE WILL WORK OUT THE SHOES THING IN THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS

I normally dont do this but i think i can throw in a few pairs of kicks for these dudes. I live near a reputable american made skate shoe manufacturer and  i can see what they can do for me on a big discount.  I need sizes and numbers tho. LMK mutt.

Vivlion wears a size 10 US shoe.

hey guys i was on the kunstform site and i think that the twenty circus frame is the closest to the equilibrium that they stock......at that price ...not sure they gonna give that away....

i even checked twenty's site to see if i should send them a link to this topic..(hoping they may wanna sponsor a caribbean dude) since he's the only guy carrying the flame at bdos...for now.

if not well then maybe we may have to work with what we get on his behalf....

p.s...i was looking at these too but he does'nt have that to spare right now i think-http://flatlandfuel.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=1391  :P

They have an Equilibrium cheaper for 299 Euros. I'm not sure if a frame is too much to donate.  :P

I have emailed them a few times over the last 2 days without reply. I'll keep trying.

We need some help now. This frame, fork, and seat set up are quite heavy. If anyone has a decent frame going cheap, preferably in the states because of shipping to Miami, let us know. Preferably a lightwight frame without an f set. And thanx for all the offers for help thus far.

#1
KYLE I SAID YOUR NUTS BECAUSE YOU GOT THE CRAZY NO SHOES
STYLE RIDING AND NOT THAT YOUR NUTS ACTUALLY..OK AND YEAH
I HEARD ALL KINDS OF STUFF FROM JESSE ABOUT YOU AND BELIEVE ME
I KNOW ALOT MORE THAN YOU THINK ABOUT TRINIDAD FLATLAND. IT IS ALL
GOOD BRO AND YEAH WE NEED TO GET THAT CRAZY KID KYLE SOME SHOES
DAMN IT..I MEAN LOL...YEAH IT IS JUST A FUNNY THING SEEING A FLATLANDER
IN TRINIDAD WITH NO SHOES RIDING AND IT TAKES ME BACK TO SEEING
FLOCKS OF KIDS ALMOST NAKED ROAMING AROUND RIO AND NO SHOES!
IT IS JUST STUCK IN MY HEAD HOW THINGS ARE DOWN THERE SO YEAH YOU
KNOW WHY I AM TRYING TO HELP OUT PLUS ME GUSTA LATIN AMERICA Y
LATIN AMERICA ES MI SEGUNDO CASA!

OK I BEEN BUSY WITH UNIVERSITY SO I HAVE NOT BEEN ON AS MUCH, PLUS
RIDING ALSO WHICH HAS BEEN A BIOOTCH WITH THE HIGH WINDS AND I
WONT GO INTO THAT AS ILL START REALLY GETTING UPSET.

I REALLY THINK THAT PEOPLE SHOULD PICK A RIDER TO HELP OUT IN TRINIDAD
AND IF YOU REALLY NEED LARGE PARTS THEN ASK FOR DONATIONS LIKE I DID
WITH THE BARBADOS RIDER..VIVIAN. YES I HAVE DECIDED ONCE HE GETS THE
LARGER PARTS HE NEEDS, THAT I WILL CONTINUE TO HELP HIM OUT.

WHAT I AM TRYING TO SAY IS I THINK WE CAN DO ALOT MORE IF PEOPLE
ADOPT A RIDER IN TRINIDAD LIKE I ADOPTED TREVLON AND I AM MAKING
SURE HIS BIKE 100% DIALED SO HE CAN RIDE AND I SUPPLY HIM WITH
WITH TIRES, ANY SMALL PARTS ETC.

IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM GETTING ONE OF THE BIGGER PARTS THEN COME
ON HERE AND ASK PEOPLE TO DONATE TO THIS RIDER AND EXPLAIN WHY
AND HOW IT SHOULD DONE..I THINK THAT GOING THRU TREVLON SKY BOX
CAN WORK BUT SEPERATE SKY BOXES WILL WORK TOO.

#1..SO WHAT I AM DOING IS ASKING FOR DONATIONS FOR A FRAME, FORK RIGHT
NOW AND SOME KID OFFERED A QUAMEN BUT ONLY IF I TALKED TO QUAMEN
AND GOT HIM SOME MONEY OFF FOR A NEW QUAMEN..I NEED TO KNOW FROM
THIS KID WHAT KIND OF QUAMEN FRAME AND TT LENGTH ETC. THEN I CAN
TALK TO ANTHONY AND I BET HE WILL BE GLAD TO HELP THIS PERSON OUT
IF HE DONATES THE FRAME TO VIVLIAN.

#2 PARADOXIUM..I KNOW I PUT THE SKY BOX UP FOR VIVLIAN AND DID YOU SEND
THE CRANKS AND DRIVE TRAIN TO VIVLIAN AS THAT REALLY NEEDS TO BE
SENT OUT AND PLEASE PM ME IF THERE IS A PROBLEM AS THAT WILL COST
YOU MININUM FOR SHIPPING TO FLORIDA.

ILL ASK TREVLON WHICH RIDER NEEDS HELP AND HAVE A LIST OF RIDERS YA'LL
CAN ADOPT AND I THINK THIS IS THE BEST WAY TO GO AT IT.

ANTHONY AT QUAMEN.

HEYA SNOOPY..WHERE'S THE RED BARON?
JUST KIDDING..HEYA PM ME BACK..OK

YEAH PARADOXIUM,
HEYA THANKS ALOT AND THAT HELPS ALOT AND
I STILL NEED HELP IN GETTING THE FORKS AND THEY
NEED TO BE ZERO OFFSET AND LIKE 1.5 POUNDS OR SO
AS I DONT WANT TO GIVE HIM ANOTHER HEAVY SETUP!

I AM GOING TO BE SENDING HIM SOME STUFF SOON AFTER
HE GETS ALL THE BIG PARTS WHICH INCLUDE

-MCNEAL SEAT
-SEATPOST..PROBABLY LONG COLONY SEATPOST
-SEQUENCE HANBLEBAR/STEM COMBO
-TIRES
-2 SET OF PEGS...LIGHT ONES AND NOT THOSE TANKERS!
-TUBES
SLIC CABLES
-DIA-TECH HOMBRE FRONT BRAKES
-LOLLI POPS CHAIN TENSIONER

IT WILL PROBABLY BE IN SEVERAL PACKAGES GOING OUT TO HIM
LIKE I DO TO SILVER CONTRERAS IN L.A. WHO I AM HELPING OUT
AGAIN AND SHE IS GOING TO AUTO MECHANIC SCHOOL AND
ALWAYS HAD NO MONEY TO GET PARTS.

I GUESS TEAM MUTT IS IN FULL SWING AGAIN AS I AM HELPING
OUT 6 RIDERS..PETE B. , MARCEL TREMBLAY, ED BENOIL, TREVLON
HALL IN TRINDAD, VIVLIAN IN BARBADOS, AND SILVER CONTRERAS
IN L.A. ALONG WITH SUPPORT TO ANDREW ARROYO AND KERRY GATT
SO ADD ANOTHER 2 MORE RIDERS TO THAT LIST.
NO MONEY.

SNOOPY..AGAIN PM ME AS I NEED THAT INFO ON THE FRAME
THANKS!

I'll keep an eye out in the marketplace here for some cheap zero forks in the states I can ship to Miami.

OK , I've just put up a wanted thread in the marketplace for forks, so if anyone in the states can sell me a set of forks shipped to Miami for U$45, please help us out. It really needs mounts, because although he's a brakeless rider, he would like to dabble with fronts now and then to try new stuff.  I need a reasonably light set too, so I'm not looking for heavy ones like WTP and old forks etc.

Eg.. KHE, KGB, OG, Odyssey, Inertia, Suelo, Zion, St Martin and so on. Any make, any colour, with mounts and Zero.  -_-

I must say this is the highest level of philanthropy illustrated for riders within the region, and this undoubtedly deserves respect. I know that each and everyone making contributions have one thing in common - the burning desire to see our sport grow bigger and brighter.

Although I commend these acts of altruism - I am also a firm believer in earning via hardwork and committment. I know that all helpful hands making these contributions, do it in a spirit of willingness and genuine interest and I applaud the works.

In recollection to what I posted on the Trinidad bike project http://www.global-flat.com/smf/index.php?topic=15884.120 (http://www.global-flat.com/smf/index.php?topic=15884.120) - I look and labor towards ways of helping from a holistic level. I am determined to get our local shops to stock quality gears relative to our industry and riding habits. For many years I had to deal with proprietors who were reluctant to stock or import product because the market did not exist.

This however, did not deter my ambitions to devise and execute statergies to influence market demand.Today, there are a lot more kids riding and I am doing all within my abilities to build where it will benifit many.

Having said all this, I will get into the core of my subject. Pooty boy - thanks for what you are doing, but even more, please pm me the distribution contacts for this shoe company that's helping you with deals. I am going to be in meetings again very soon with a few major sports store & bike shop owners that have multiple branches throughout the country.

I will recommend the brand to the proprietors or their purchasing managers so everyone can benefit as a result of this networking. I am part of an upcoming sport symposium geared towards helping kids understand the value of sport, hardwork and discipline. Please check this link which leads to one of our local newspapers for more info http://www.newsday.co.tt/sport/0,97866.html (http://www.newsday.co.tt/sport/0,97866.html)

I will be doing a demo for the kids and will also bring to their attention the plights I have been through and what I am about that will benifit them. I have a list of other things I am doing this year with Redbull, our local government and our sport ministry just to name a few.

So in the bigger picture, this will inspire many more kids to ride and continue the building trend. In light of all this, kids will want to know where to ride and where to get parts. This is why I am getting our local government to contribute a spot to our sport. And this is the type of behaviour that will encourage bike shop owners and sports stores to stock/import gears.

I am the type of person that lives by meticulous planning and honestly believe in earning via hard work and consistent progression. Now the whole donating vibe is respectable, but imagine if an entire school were to visit global-flat and post their bikes or seek assistance which was not earned.

This is why I made it my duty to put the pressure on our local shops to stock product that the masses can purchase at a convenient location as is needed. I will continue to influence the demand so it works out for everyone. I am thinking and acting for the future...in a way where all parties involved can benefit in one way or the other.

Mutt said he will contact me to find out which rider needs help. I will be dead honest and recommend riders who are indeed deserving and will use the investment to ride hardcore and continue the cycle of progression.

I encourage all riders who were assisted to periodically post videos of their progression - which I am sure will make all those who contributed feel that their time, effort, money, or whatever contribution was well invested. I also take this special opportunity to say to all riders who were assisted,"DON"T EXPECT MY UTMOST RESPECT IN THE EVENT YOU STOP PROGRESSIVELY RIDING OR ADVANTAGE THIS ACT OF ALTRUISM".

Thanks again to everyone...

@ Trevlon. I fully see where you are coming from in that you would prefer these kids to obtain product through hard work and effort. Although my contributions seem in full force, I am in fact winding down. I have never obtained things easy in life, and everything all the way was of great effort, even the labor intensive trade I am in, leaves me exhausted at the end of each day.

Seeing Yannicks bike, I randomly decided to lend a hand, by kickstarting the bulk of the bike, leaving the remainder to try and muster up through donations. I did not really know if I could finish this way, but many months later, we {Global-flat} did. Only the chain is left to finish, and that should arrive any day.

I was planing on that being it, but then Kyle needed some help to get Dave's bike which he very generously donated, and through your skybox and me transferring a sum of money for the customs bailout from the skybox, a second was completed.

Vivs bike, I feel will be the final big project/donation. Although I will occasionaly help out my friends in Peru, I am for the most part, winding down flow.
These contributions will no doubt give the kids in the region a general morale boost, and bring awareness of the flat scene in your islands to the world.  Hopefully the good vibes gets all you guys pumped into greater achievements and motivate the whole flat community there to ride heaps and progress, giving you more support than before.

I do not want the lucky ones to feel pressured like they have to be super good in a short time. The level you have reached Trevlon, is of the highest level in the world, not a level the average flatlander will achieve.
I want these kids to have fun with it, and post pics or vids if they want to, but not feel intense scrutiny will be upon them.  I have no doubt they realise its like they won the lottery, and will strive to become good riders.

If a school load of riders require donations, it will not be met. It is not possible.  ;D
My assistance is more random than a lottery, not sequential or systematic.  -_-
In this way, these kids will not take anything for granted, because its not permanent, more a flash in the pan. Hopefully I have helped in some small way by kickstarting with these mini projects and leave good vibes in the islands of Trinidad, Tobago, and now Barbados, and with your hard work, there just may be a few more Trevlons or riders of similar level in the years ahead.

Okay cool mutt its really sad to see a site like what you saw........its things like that bubbles in my mind....how could i help out people in need....You all are really making a big difference here!!!I understand what trevlon is saying but i purely agree with Karl.I ride everyday but there are other who don't or just can't do that.If a person doesn't ride everyday or show a lot of improvement quickly doesn't mean that they are progressing.Progression has to take place in the mind before it takes place any where else.So in other words everyone aint the same and everyone doesn't have the same circumstances like some else would.Just because someone got a bike doesn't mean they will desire to go pro or anything. Some of us just do flatland because we love it.i personally  want to get my education and get a well paying job a nice house and a nice car but still will have flatland in my life.So everyone just ride hard!!!!!! and keep doing what yall are doing.......helping the best sport in the world!! i need shoes lol

This is the first time I've read this thread, so sorry for coming in so late in the game.  This is awesome what you guys are doing.  I've read through the thread, but can you update me on where all of this stand so far?  What else is needed?  The Byke Project can contribute tons of tubes, cables, maybe chains, and possibly some parts, if still needed.

Guys, is there a list of parts that are still needed? And are used parts good, too?

I got a used seat, a used seatpost and new Flybikes barends laying around.

Also I got an idea: there is this new dude from Peru (definitely another country in need) on this forum who builds frames for a living and from what I can see he got a pretty solid feedback from other forums.
See here: http://www.global-flat.com/smf/index.php?topic=25124.0 (http://www.global-flat.com/smf/index.php?topic=25124.0)

Maybe we could help him help us. What do you think?

What I meant about the dude from Peru was the following:

He builds cheap (and from what I can hear also good and strong) frames for a living.
You guys collect money and buy parts for riders in need.
Wouldn't it be a double-win to buy frames from the guy in Peru to help a rider in Barbados or Trinidad & Tobago out?

That was my thought-train.

Anyways: god speed with the surgery. Dental stuff always sucks! Get well soon!

Yes this is a good idea. My only problem is finding enough people to raise the money, and then how to transfer it in many small sums to a country that paypal does not yet accept.
Paypal will eventually include Peru, but dont yet. Bank transfers charge $35 both sides and Western Union charge $25 one side, and double if its from bank to bank.
The fees would zero out the money. Its a good idea, but cannot see a way to send many small sums without it getting eaten up by fees.

DAMN PARADOXIUM
YOU ARE REALLY TRYING TO SHOW ME UP
LOL

NO HELL THATS GREAT PARADOXIUM AND THANKS AND I KNOW
HE WILL BE STOKED AND I AM GOING TO TRY TO SEND
SOME STUFF AT THE END OF THE MONTH AND CONTINUE
SENDING HIM STUFF ALONG WITH TREVLON'S STUFF.

I AM STILL WAITING ON SNOOPY TO GET BACK TO ME ON
THE TT LENGTH AND THEN ILL CONTACT ANTHONY AND
YEAH I WOULD LIKE HIM TO GET A QUAMEN AND THEY
ARE QUALITY FRAMES AND PRETTY LIGHT..PLUS QUAMEN HELPS
ME OUT SO YEAH I LIKE QUAMEN TO GET INVLOVED A LITTLE
IN HELPING RIDERS OUT.

I THINK PARADOXIUM IS GOING WAY OVER WHAT HE SHOULD BE DOING
GUYS AND THAT IS GOOD BUT WE NEED MORE PEOPLE TO DONATE PARTS
WITH THE NEXT RIDER WHO COMES ON THE LIST AND WE ARE JUST
STARTING IN THESE BIKE PROJECTS FOR FOREIGN RIDERS AND I
THINK WHAT WE ARE DOING IS A GOOD THING AND WE NEED TO CONTINUE
TO DO THIS.

I THINK PARADOXIUM YOU NEED TO TAKE A BREAK AFTER THIS IN GIVING
PARTS! YOU HAVE GONE WELL OVER WHAT YOU SHOULD OF AND THAT IS
GREAT! MAYBE ADOPTING KYLE TO HELP IS THE LAST THING YOU MIGHT WANT
TO CONSIDER BUT NO MORE FOR NOW!

I STILL THINK ADOPTING A FOREIGN RIDER LIKE I HAVE IN TREVLON AND
VIVLIAN WOULD BE A GOOD THING AND THE RIDER COULD GET HELP
LONGER AND HAVE THEIR BIKES STAY DIALED INSTEAD OF GETTING
SOME PARTS AND 6 MONTHS LATER HAVE SOME PROBLEMS WITH HIS BIKE
AND BE IN THE SAME BOAT HE WAS EARLIER!

PARADOXIUM I KNOW MIGHT BE DOWN FOR THIS AND I KNOW KYLE NEEDS
HELP IN SHOES AND OTHER STUFF AND I BEEN TALKING TO KYLE ALOT AND
WE JUST DISCUSSED SWIMMING WITH ANACONDAS AND I AM FURTHER AND
FURTHER THINKING KYLE IS A MOWGLI..BAREFOOTED RIDING, SWIMMING
WITH ANACONDAS..THE BOY IS NUTS! I BET HE WILL BE SWINGING IN THE TREES
PRETTY SOON AND SINGING THE BARE NECESSASITIES!

LOL
ANYWAYS KYLE YOU KNOW I AM SPOOKED BY BIG SNAKES AND I JUST THINK
IT IS NUTS TO SWIM WITH BIG SNAKES LIKE THAT...

I WISHED MORE PEOPLE BE LIKE PARADOXIUM AND HELP OUT RIDERS IN
NEED AND I KNOW SOME HAVE OFFERED AND KEEP THOSE PARTS HANDY
FOR OTHER RIDERS THOSE WHO OFFERED, THOSE RIDERS NEXT ON OUR
LIST!

THANKS

No I don't want to show anyone up. I just want you to read my posts so we don't double up.
I don't want to send 2 of some things and none of another.

He has no freecoaster guys. His wheelset is not too good apparently. If anyone that offered to help would like to donate a front hub or a freecoaser, that would help him immensly.

Thanx Mutt.   I have already "adopted" a flatlander in Peru and have been flowing parts for over a year. I'm trying to slow it down now, but its a good idea, and I hope some others can ''adopt'' a rider. I know there are deserving riders all over the world, like the Philippines, Argentina, Central America and so on, but one person cannot help the world.
I'd be stoked if others financially able would assist the needy like you do.
Keep up the good work Mutt. Now some more pics for you Mutt.  ^_^

@Cow. That bike is good, but $200 is too much. Who will pay that? We'd be better getting a Hoffman Strowler for $150.

A frame will lend itself, we just need to patient and see what eventuates.

Alright guys... I got a small break in between work stuff to take an inventory from the big box I received. I need to know EXACTLY what goes to who, and then Karl and I can work out the shipping logistics. Here goes:

1 pair Frequency G's
1 Wheelset
1 Shadow Conspiracy Tire
4 Eastern Pegs
1 Pair 88 Pedals
1 White Stem (brand?)
1 Green Fly Brake
1 Pair inner tubes
1 White handlebar
1 Pink Suelo Frame
1 Oddyssey Fork
1 Suelo Stem
1 Purple Chain (I started singing "Purple Rain" to myself when I tok note of it, only I replaced "rain" with "chain")
1 White crankset
1 Black Odyssey Brake
1 Primo Seat
1 White Quamen Sprocket
1 White Seatpost

... so break it down for me, guys. I really need to know before I leave for a few days - but to be honest, with work slamming me in the rear, I may not be able to send out until next week. It will definetely go out within a week or two, however.

I'm adding a bunch of stuff, as well - including Nor-Cal Flatland tee's for all.

My PM's are disabled, so I go by e-mail ONLY!

The drivetrain goes to the Miami skybox for Viv in Barbados.
1 Purple Chain
1 Pair 88 Pedals
1 White crankset {including the BB}
1 White Quamen Sprocket

This stuff is most urgent. Its for PERU. Poor Toño needs this frame bad.
The frame he broke was a loan frame too.  :P
1 Pink Suelo Frame
1 Shadow Conspiracy Tire
4 Eastern Pegs
1 White Stem (OG)
1 Green Fly Brake
1 White handlebar
1 Oddyssey Fork
1 Black Odyssey Brake
1 Primo Seat
1 White Seatpost
1 seatclamp

This stuff goes to Australia for young Sean, and the front wheel for me.
Yay, I bought a complete bike and get a bit.  ^_^
1 pair Frequency G's
1 Pair inner tubes
1 Wheelset
1 Suelo Stem

Thats it Dion. The complete breakdown. If you can please send just one parcel before you go on holidays, please send the parcel destined for Peru. They really need this stuff.

Young Sean can wait 2 weeks for his freecoaster wheel,  ^_^  and we don't have all Viv's stuff yet anyway. But please try to send the Peru package. Let me know the shipping costs, and I'll paypal it through immediately. Many thanx Dion, also for adding your own extras.  ;D

i know it's heavy, but i have my Stylus frame, fset headset, whole back brake
set up(minus the brake pads), bb, and the stock 35mm stem.
i would really like to help get this to someone that really needs it.
i'm not looking for any money, but i'll have to come up with the shipping costs.

anyway let me know if anyone needs this ;D

Hey Havok, just wondering if this offer is still available please? I know its not the lightest frame, but its got to be lighter than his current frame. He doesn't use stems, but the rest can be used. If shipping to Miami is the only problem, we can work something out.

i was thinking the 08 version since its up 4 sale at FF for 150
dnno why you would wanna go with the sinus but feel free to talk to pat
you could also buy a BB for the frame instead of the difference
just an idea
anyway you can choose
lmk asap so we can work it out

hahaha, i was thinking the sinus because he loved the khe equilibrium because of the look and design and since the stylus is kinda close to that in design and only 9dollars more than the strowler hence my thought.

http://flatlandfuel.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=923 (http://flatlandfuel.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=923)

but hey bro its all good........like i said your'e doing alot more than i could right now so its all you....thanks alot still....

will still holla at pat........

yea those are both good frames but i think the weight is better divided over the strowler
it's more balanced out i haven't ridden any of both frames
it's just from watching others ride them tho

@ Cow. The WTP Sinus is too long. Viv told me he'd like anything in the 18" to 18.something.
The strowler is perfect at 18.75". Viv is shorter, so doesn't need a long frame.
Ren, thats a fantastic offer, thanx.

The Strowler is an excellent choice, because its not likely to break. In hindsight, I would of preferred to use a Strowler for the Trini project too, because it would last forever. Unfortunately, the Strowler went on special after I sent the package.  Replacing broken parts can be difficult for people in these countries.

I'll fix the bb issue. I sent Odyssey thermals, which I presume are all 19mm, complete with a Spanish bb set. This means he really only needs 2 bearings as he will already have the tube spacer and all the outer spacers. If I can find out the OD of the mid bearings, I will buy them locally and send them to him.

Headset is another issue.

Mutt, someone has generously purchased a frame for Christopher and provided this address. It is a very strange address though. Can you confirm it is correct and others have shipped to this address with successful delivery?

-normally there is no space in the Aerobox number
-street address does not exist whatsoever. UPS wont even attempt delivery
-130 in front of city?

Pat
ok guys agave vivian a cal tonight before my training session....he has'nt been able to go online since 3-4days ago so he is'nt aware that we got a frame for him......

now the skybox address belonged to a friend that he joined with to start it.....but has'nt been able to clarify if its still working so my suggestion to which he agreed was that one of you guys could collect all the stuff we want to send to him and when package/bike is completely collected whe should have his own skybox by then......approx 1-2 weeks.

the sheraton address is his home address.....so  that's where you can come in an give me some advice/hope its not a bother....

how much would it cost ff to ship to his address?

now since i'm in trinidad/caribbean...if all other options fail...my skybox can come into play...its just that costs to ship are gonna be higher since the bike/stuff would weigh a bit and have to go to miami/skybox,come here then ship to vivian in barbados.......

thanks mooo mooooooooo boy

thats clearifies alot and i knew it had gotten sketchy
and if people send it to the SHERATON ADDRESS
then they will probably pay quite alot and maybe we should hold
off til he gets the SKYBOX set up..i also messaged him on my space
and he has yet to get back to me and i told him about the frame and
i have a feeling that he has not gotten on that either lately.

I WILL HOLD OFF SENDING HIM ANYTHING MORE TIL HE GETS THE SKY
BOX SET UP AND THAT WAY HE WILL GET IT DIRECTLY AND QUICKER THAT
WAY!

HEYA MOOOOO MOOO BOY..PLEASE KEEP US UPDATED WHAT IS GOING ON!
THANKS

hahahahahaha,

well i should be puttin on another phonecard to talk to him between tommorow and sunday. he said he should be online hopefully on sunday.

so guys (flt trix rider43 & mutt) can one of you provide Pat with an address to ship frame to,hopefully that would be the person collecting and storing all the stuff for viv.

and just as i knew,he told me there are two other guys looking to start flat over there in barbados....so he's gonna put them on to me since the places they were looking to get parts from were not updated and were too expensive....so as soon as i get them organised with choices of parts and viv gets skybox vivian or myself would be holloring at you Pat/ff..........

flatland is totally global....GLobal-flat.....hahahaha

well pat said he would volunteer to collect everything....are you guys involved cool with that?
its just that in the caribbean the riding community is now being educated about shipping stuff.....we usually had to wait till stores here brought stuff or someone;s family travelling to the states....

i was the first rider in trinidad to get a skybox and if you ask pat i've been ordering a lot of stuff for riders here in the past year......so i've just been trying to educate the others like viv about the pluses of it so bear with everyone......

would've used my skybox like i said earlier but it would cost the same as buying the frame since we would have to pay for three types aof shipping......
Title: Re: BARBADOS BIKE PROJECT
Post by: Paradoxium on April 29, 2009, 07:46:00 AM
Sorry about all this Kuroke-Kaze, but its a blessing the frame you bought did not get sent because the adress was invalid. As Cow said, the whole shipping thing in the Carribean is new in that using skyboxes saves alot of money with shipping costs. The only problem with skyboxes is the receiver has to pay taxes to bail it out. That is why its critically important the sender sends no invoices, and declares a very low value.

Whether the frame gets sent now or in a week, it will still be sent to Miami, and then Barbados.
Pat has put in a fantastic offer in sending the stuff to him until Viv gets a skybox adress.

People, we still need a wheelset for this project. Even a decent hubset or single hub would be a great offer. A good front or a good freecoaster. We have had alot of great offers and if we can find a hubset we'll be just about finished as long as everything turns up as promised.

Are you certain this is all good. Is it a street address or a skybox address? I'll get the complete drivetrain and forks sent now then.

hey karl,
its his neighbour's skybox address,if you're sending the stuff via UPS you can get them to confirm it.also you can include a note in the package saying that the stuff is s agift from you and are not new but worth something like 20us total.........include your return address incase they have shipping problems.

We really need this skybox. Its holding up the entire project.  Cow,  is Viv going to use his neighbours skybox or get his own? We really need this moving. Last I heard he was thinking of using his neighbours.
GOOD QUESTION
ANYONE????

so my suggestion to which he agreed was that one of you guys could collect all the stuff we want to send to him and when package/bike is completely collected whe should have his own skybox by then......approx 1-2 weeks.

If everyone wants to ship to FF I would be happy to collect the stuff and then ship it out to his skybox when he has it. I will pay for the shipping.

hey pat,this's viv's neiighbour's skybox address.........

well that's the part i do'nt know.i made the suggestion for one person to collect the stuff then ship it out.
i remember you volunteered to do that (am i correct?).so karl said he would send the drivetrain and fork
Are you certain this is all good. Is it a street address or a skybox address? I'll get the complete drivetrain and forks sent now then.

so can everone involved in this project post what you have and maybe we can all send it to ff with notes attached saying that the're used gifts and Pat if willing or able can ship it all in one box...that'll guarantee cheaper customs costs for viv.........

feedback?

I can have the drivetrain sent to FF and the forks too if Pats ok with that. One box will be better than 5 separate ones for sure. Dion is holding the drivetrain for me and D.Demo is holding the forks.
My list..... Odyssey zero forks, cranks, bb, sprocket, chain, pedals and I will also send another bb to fit frame, {mid}.

He doesn't have a freecoaster. I will be making sure the Panama project has a freecoaster, but would be stoked if someone can help here with one too.

Hi guys, new member to the online as well as global flatland community here! Just wanted to say big ups to all helping with this project. I am from St. Croix, US Virgin Islands myself and I know how much of a hassle it is to get good gear here (just spent $115 to ship my new bike and I'm used to it :/ ). So mad props to all! Gonna go chop down some trees and hold some irie meditations while I wait for my order. Good vibes and peace to all. I hope I get the chance to help someone close by one day. It's all about the effort.

I've asked Dion to ship the drivetrain direct to you and D.Demo to ship the forks direct to you.
There is not alot of stuff, but if you can wait till we round up these few packages, it will work out good. Thanx again Pat.

COSTS TOO MUCH AND I GET MY STUFF I SEND TO RIDERS THRU
FF SO YEAH IT IS ALOT MORE EXPENSIVE THAN I CAN DO IN
EACH MONTH I SEND PACKAGES..IT IS NOT A ONE TIME THING
LIKE YA'LL DOING OR A FEW PACKAGES BUT NOT LIKE CONSTANT
LIKE I HAVE PLAN AND DO ACTUALLY FOR TREVLON AND THEM IN
TRINIDAD EVERY MONTH.

IT IS THE MATTER OF KEEPING THEIR BIKES DIALED AFTER THE CARE
PACKAGES AS THINGS BREAK, WEAR DOWN ETC AND IF I AM ABLE TO
SEND THEM PARTS ON A MONTHLY BASIS THEN THAT WONT BE A PROBLEM.

-IDEAS OF MONTHLY PACKAGES ITEMS-

-SLIC CABLES..ODYSSEY
-TUBES-REG
-TIRES- ODYSSEY CHASE GOUIN P LITES..1.75
-GRIPS-REVENGE OR ODI LONGNECKS
-BARENDS..BB..BRICKHOUSE
-RIGHT BRAKE LEVEL..FRONT BRAKE!..TECH 77-DIA-COMPE

TRI MONTHLY OR WHEN NEEDED

-CHAIN
-FRONT DIA-TECH HOMBRE BRAKE
-PEDALS..ODYSSEY TWISTED OR KHE STIMULATORS
-CHAIN TENSIONER..KHE OR QUAMEN LOLI POPS
-SEAT/SEATPOST AND CLAMP
-VARIOUS OTHER SMALL PARTS WHEN NEEDED

HEYA AGAIN I NEED TO KNOW IF THESE PACKAGES MADE IT
THROUGH AS I WILL BE SENDING PACKAGES MONTHLY TO VIVLIAN
AND NEED TO KNOW IF THIS ADDRESS WORKS

THANKS MUTT

A package is set to ship, just need to confirm the address.

This item will be delayed: Shoes.
I just need some expert guidance in regards to the shoes. I have taken a look at a few, but not pleased.

I would like to consider they will ride in heat and since there is no real quality shoe for flatland riding, the feet, sole, legs and overall impact is very important.

What is required and is suitable that is available in the general market?

Cheers,
Neela

hey bro,if your package is'nt much (parts)you could send the stuff to ff if pats still taking parts for the order. that way everything ships as one package so it costs less to clear at customs.

Hey Bro,

No worries about the shipping, items will be shipped from Canada. If you feel it is best through Pat as one large box, let me know, ASAP, so the timing is not off.

But the shoes will be delayed. I am in a position where I get to see and sample shoes, I just need to know what is best suited. You don't have to suggest a brand, just quality specks.

Thanks,
Neela

I'm waiting for 2 parcels to arrive at FF. One from Dion in California and one from D.Demo up NY way I believe.
I believe Dion sent his one a few days ago, but haven't heard from D.Demo. I'll chase him up again.  Dion sent the drivetrain and D.Demo is sending zero forks. I'll pm him again (and his mates) and let you know asap.

Let me know too. I sent an email to Trev H about type of shoe suitable for riding. He was very helpful.

Me being picky, still waiting for the right shoe for shipment. Waiting hear from ma pal at West 49 and Adidas, if they will cut ASC a deal with the shoes, if they take too long then I'll decide to handle that part on my own. Sorry I'm late with these things....better late than never.

Package is now due for shipping. The drivetrain arrived, but not the forks. I may have been scammed, but can't say for sure.

I put a lot of time, money and effort into assisting riders not so well off, and when I get ripped off its upsetting.  Same with people or companies saying they will donate this or that and thats the last you hear of it..... or offering shoes to the poor, then closing down your account.

Pat is shipping the frame and crankset. Thanx a million.

hey "prana" a skybox is a virtual P/O box address for people living outside of the U.S...thay are based in miami mostly....this allows someone to make an online purchase and or receive goods shipped from in the U.S and have it shipped to thier country directly.

if you wanna send small stuff i suggest you link with mutt/Paradoxium and it would be included in his packages as shipping and customs charges can add up for small packages being sent often.............holla and thanks for your support an effort..........cow

that my order has been sent to the skybox adress in miami
so how is the rest coming...?
this project is way overdue just becuz of people saying they'll help
and don't do anything but talk
crious whats wrong with helping some one out
it's like people think helping some one out is a sign of weakness and since
it's survival of the fittest they shouldn't becuz they'll get consumed by  our consumer society
well thats sad...
respect tho for the ones realizing thats just bs and try there best helping out
for the rest get a mentality check and stop thinking about urself for once

ok karl, thanks alot for the update.....sorry to hear about the fork scenario.....was it that it was promissed but never showed up or is it that it was lost?

This guy Dom Demo from NY area put parts up for sale in the marketplace here and I payed for the forks + ship to Miami. He needed to hang onto them for a few weeks till he got new ones which was perfect for me as we had no address. Now I'm asking to have them sent and get no response. I'll leave it another week before contacting paypal about payment reversal. I'll also contact a few members here from the area. I'll try to get locals to ring him or something to see whats happening before I contact paypal. But right now it looks shady.

If you peeps want to see Viv gets this batch of stuff before sending more, its cool with me. We already lost a package Mutt sent.  Its probably not a bad idea if some want to wait.

Hey Cow,
do you think it might be cheaper to ship to islands in the Caribbean from Puerto Rico than using skyboxes or other methods? The reason I ask is because shipping from the states to Puerto Rico is cheaper than the other islands and shipping from island to island would have to be not very expensive? That would get rid of the customs taxes on the skyboxes too. If someone in Puerto Rico would act as the middle man, do you think it would be cheaper?

Hey Snoop, thats a super cool offer. We have an offer for a seat, but we are just making sure this skybox runs smoothly before sending more stuff. The forks and post would be greatly appreciated.
Are the forks variable offset from zero to minimal? Viv runs full zero, so if they are what I'm thinking, they are perfect. I already bought forks for this project , but the guy kept my money AND the forks, so to get a set donated would be too awesome. But again, as soon as we know for sure he gets this stuff, we can send more. Thanx alot Snoop.

Sort of, but things kept changing. Mutts package went awol, and my forks never got sent.
The package thats in Barbados I believe contains a Strowler frame, cranks, pedals, sprocket, bb set, chain and possibly t shirts.  ;D

I will also send him mid bearings for the frame.

On offer on the table from generous members is 2 seats, a seatpost and variable offset St Martin forks
zero - minimal.

Once Viv gets his stuff, myself and Mutt will be sending more, plus the members here will send the above mentioned.

He has a frame, complete drivetrain, and on offer is a seat or 2, a seatpost and zero forks.
He already runs a zero offset bar/stem combo. No need for a stem or bars.  He could do with a wheelset, tyres, grips, bar ends etc. I will be sending him mid bearings for the cranks as the bb set wont fit the new frame.

Most important part to go now is probably a wheelset or just a freecoaster.

Just as soon as he gets the first package, I'll give the go ahead for everything else.

Ok..I got the forks covered*st marti's*, just need to know where to send..To pat? Also can send a seat and post..Altho its not lite weight, its a rather good conditioned ody 99er*blue* with black al post.

Also i see nankai shells selling on ebay all the time for 10 bucks *48h* but they could still be laced up 36. Maybe someone buy one of those and ship to FF..Then a rim and spokes come from some other person/s...Just a thought.

Karl, out of curiosity, did you give YOUR feedback about D. Demo in the Market Place Feedback section?  You should.  It's a real bummer that he would burn another flatlander, and just out right insulting that he did it for some forks for a bike project.

Post by: flt trix rider43 on July 06, 2009, 11:55:48 PM
heya you can actually send some parts to Trevlon as they always need
parts down there or Viv as yeah it is both a needy place for parts.

Trinidad has more riders and more riders in need and i know a few
hard core riders who need help..Nigel and Anthony along a few others
and i have Trevlon pretty well TAKEN CARE OF ALONG WITH AARON FROM
SEQUENCE AKA FROST BOY AND ALSO INNERTWINE HAS HIS CLOTHING.

I AM THINKING OF MAKING AN NEW THREAD FOR ALL THE TRINIDAD RIDERS
NOT HOOKED UP YET THAT SHOULD BE HOOKED UP AND ILL CALL TREVLON
AND SEE WHAT IS NEEDED ETC AND START THE THREAD OUT AND GIVE YA'LL
A LIST OF STUFF NEEDED.

RIDERS IF THEY KNOW AN AREA OF LATIN AMERICA THAT NEEDS HELP SHOULD
START A THREAD OF THAT AREA BIKE PROJECTS AS I AM SURE THERE ARE STILL
PEOPLE OUT THERE  WHO WANT TO DONATE BUT SENDING OR OVERLOADING
ONE AREA OR RIDER WITH PARTS WONT HELP OTHERS WHO MIGHT NEEED PARTS
ETC EVEN MORE SINCE THE RIDER HELPED IS WELL OFF IN PARTS AT THE MOMENT.

WE ALSO NEED A CONTINUAL FLOW OF PARTS TOO AND NOT THIS ONE TIME THING
AND MAYBE A PACKAGE EVERY 2-3 MONTHS SO THAT RIDER OR AREA CONTINUES
TO SEE PART FLOW..CONTINUAL SUPPORT FOR FLATLAND.

OK I HAVE SAID ENOUGH!

states items have already arrived.

Vivs neighbours skybox has recently been finished with. This is very annoying. I suggest skipping the skyboxes altogether and sending directly to Barbados. Viv is moving too, so I'll post up an address soon. In the meantime we'll search for the forks, rim and other misc stuff sent to the skybox.
Title: Re: BARBADOS BIKE PROJECT
Post by: Paradoxium on September 05, 2009, 12:56:23 AM
The stuff is still sitting at the skybox. There has been a lack of communication, but it seems its ready to send. Vivs neighbour doesn't deal with the skybox company anymore, that was the holdup. Things should start improving now we know whats going on.

This typa stuff is so un easing.. And is why id rather give parts to needy U.S riders as it is just so hard to get things to these countrys without a hitch. I hope the forks rim and whatever else do turn up.. I have no problems helping out when i can, but its kind of nerve racking knowing youve given away parts/money towards..who knows what in the end.   BTW Icy Dragon,in your dreams, your Frail, ask your mommy. So you won't be smackin' noone.

@ Juggar,    you know how hard these projects are. You started the American bike project, and saw firsthand the difficulties and false promises. You feel like unless you do 99%, it just doesn't get done.

Mutt started this project, and after his first parcel went missing, talked through the next 20 pages without a single thing being sent to Barbados. We had numerous skybox issues, I got scammed on forks from some con in NY and the next set of forks went missing.

You are right though, 20 pages is out of hand. Its time to end this one and restart with fresh photos of whats arrived and a new address in Barbados with no skybox. Viv has just moved address, and I am collecting stuff for him still. I now have forks for him, yes the third set, and a freecoaster and other stuff.  Parts have arrived though. Kuroke_kaze sent a frame, Jason sent a rim, Dion sent a package and actually loads more stuff made it.

Myself, I'm collecting as much as I can afford, but have been dealing with a far bigger project over in The Philippines at the same time, where there is much help still needed. On top of all that I have been helping Americans from your project, the last one right up until a month ago to complete that bike. There is only so much I can afford, and I'm in the process of inviting some small assistance from actual bike companies to help me wind up these last 2 projects.

So the updates on this project will be posted as I have them, soon.  -_-

1) i lost money and there is no fix to this so far that i have seen and have
the boxes actually arrived without any problems and is this an permanent
fix to the problem??  Try $120U.S that i lost

2) i did try to send parts ok..please refrain from telling me that i have not
tried to send anything as i did try and the problem continues in sending
stuff there to Barbados....I HAVE NOT GIVEN UP SO DONT THINK THAT!

UNTIL A PERMANENT FIX TO THE PROBLEM IS REACHED...I WILL NOT
SEND ANYMORE STUFF.....I TOLD VIVLIAN THIS SO HE KNOWS!

3) I HAVE BEEN VERY ILL LATELY and i have told many of this and at this
moment, i cant really deal with this Barbados problem and i have never
back off anything i said i would do and i wont.

Yeah I know Mutt. You lost alot. There's been one problem after another with skyboxes, thats why I think we should restart when I find out whats needed, and deal directly with Barbados. No more skyboxes.

All BS aside MUTT,I commend you on your perserverance. It took "nuts" to get this goin, all I was saying is from here we see no end to justify the means. No finish pix or anything...@Para,I only had 2 people promise stuff that didn't follow through and ya'll know the rest.I continue to do this Locally so as not to run into this problem. The 2 Americans that Animal and I helped out on here have recently returned the favor of donating parts back to me for this .This is why I did mine here at home, easy to contact  and ship to.
Again,I commend all of you who executed this unselfish act of helping out these guys, but it was starting to seem like ya'll got took.

Yep, props to Mutt for getting it going, and sending the first parcel.
The reason this slowed down is because things have been going missing in the post, due to all the mess ups with skyboxes.  People got scared to lose parcels, so it basically stopped.
The new one will contain updated pics with a list of what he does and doesn't have, plus a regular postal address in Barbados. I will send the first parcel to Barbados, and faith will return.

As for the American project, props on keeping it going locally. Now the 2 you helped are returning the favour, which will keep going like domino's, just awesome Juggar. Full respects.   As a bonus, the kid from the American project just completed his first flat bike about a month ago. He worked for months earning a few dollars here and there to get a wheelset on sale at FF.

The projects work out in the end, but take alot of patience.

I tried a skybox again and got stung worse. I got some wheels shipped to a different skybox and the company charged $85USD in fees. Apparently it gets charged by dimensional weight, and they calculated a wheelset as possibly weighing 35 pounds or something. Skyboxes are cursed and I will never use them again. They just cause extra stress and costs for everyone.
Just ship direct to the persons house instead of trying to save a $.  :P

I have been sending stuff direct to Barbados and its been fine. No hidden charges at all.

How coincidental. It took exactly one year to complete, from its start date March 26th 2009, to March 25th 2010, a year to the day, which is the 26th here in Australia.  ;D
