Who is Wheat Straw?  Just wondering if you're part of the Kingston Bike Festival or part of Metro jam or what.

I'm not part of either Prasheel, I was just passing the news along like a good little flatlander.

Wade? Jamie? Jay?........

.....how much is this thing going to cost to enter?

I personally want to thank all of ya'll ( former Metro Jam contest organizers ) for pulling out of the Toronto event, and leaving Ontario riders hanging, saying "who wants to see somebody spinning around in circles in a parking lot for 8 hours" - THEN coming back to Ontario to run a FLATLAND contest as a sideshow to you Metro Jam in Kingston on a Wednesday. A Wednesday of all days! Thanks! I hope the Ontario guys really support your cause- NOT.

I for one will not be going to this one... or supporting ANY Metro event in the future. ALL you flatlanders should really think about this before you go running down there.

Just because not much is going on here in Ontario is no excuse to cave in. I think if you were considering going to this, you'd be better off to spend your money and effort and have you own event, AND I would PERSONALLY be willing to help you out in anyway required.

My two cents. :P

I'm Abe, you silly gooses.

I have nothing to do with it, orther than posting and spreading the word I heard  about it here.

I dont think the Metro Jam dudes have anything to do with the flat contest going on.

I thought "metro jam & flatland contest "  made it clear that there are Two cool events happening during the festival.

It's just a flatland contest during the bike festival,   and certainly not some (Metro sideshow).  Sorry Osd, flatlanders , metro people, etc, etc  if I mislead anyone , or sparked some hostilities  or... whatever.

:(  les sigh

of all days. wednesday? Nobody could scratch their heads and think "durr...some people have lives and work for a living?" Kingston isnt the most populated area either in terms of flatlanders, and if anyone were to head up there it'd be rediculous to spend the money and time to drive all the way there for a little 3 hour event.

ASC has had the right idea all along. I'd gladly support anything they do rather than anything put on by the metro guys who decided to cancel a rather large flatland event at a very important  convention just so they could focus on making a bigger street event, and then pulling out of that alltogether leaving absolutely everyone dumbfounded as to what the hell went wrong.

ooh, and Al, answer to question/comment a: Lachlans mom was more than stoked to just sit back and watch people spin around. Your dad seems to enjoy it too.

My point is very few people would, most people will stop for a second, they think it looks cool, but everything looks the same to people outside the sport.  It's like BMX racing, yah its kinda cool for a bit, but I could not sit there for 8 hours and watch those dudes go around a track.

We ride bikes for christ sake, everyone needs to stop taking everything so bloody seriously.

Well when one thinks of Kingston we all think of the penitentiary(better known as the Zoo and Disney Land by Parole Officers, Wardens & Law Enforcements) .LOL...so its good they are trying to bring a more responsive active boost to the city, after all there is more to a city. Maybe Wed was the only day they had for Flatland. I know working with different municipalities can be difficult when it comes to biking events and how they view BMX in general. They forget what the riders think and that the public does care. Not saying not to support participating or other events, you all should consider through out the year, focus on your established flatland event in Toronto(FU Series) and have that grow. Let people know at other events that Ontario does provide well known event for Flatland during the Toronto International Bike Show since day one. You all have nothing to worry about what other people think, and let them think, keep doing what you all do.

they're all the same, but still
all that way, for a three hour thing
and, best flattuers? who? it doesn't say, and it seems to not be anything to jam?
is it just watching? cus yeah, watching is fun, even if it is more so for us, than others, but like, watching has a time and riding as a time, usually if i watch a video or whatever, i get to itchy, and i go ride it out.

yeah yeah whatever, i'm too high right now anyway

Call customs and make sure you have EVERYTHING you need to cross the border, then you should be good no matter what.

AND 5000!  DAMN, I HOPE I'M THE ONLY ONE THAT SHOWS UP.

so to whoever set this up....what flatlander is affiliated with this event? seems like some corporate BS to me....nine-day festival geared to engage, excite and inspire? f*ck that its 9 days of making money.....if the 9 days were some take-out   flatland would be those packets of ketchup...its not really part of the meal but they gotta give you two each anyways....

The location is good for BMX overall since this makes it easier for riders coming from Montreal, Ottawa, and South Central GTA. From what I heard it was the best location in regards to city politics and everyone working together with KBMX meaning for vert/street/race/dirt BMX.

Anyway it would be interesting to know who KBMX is referring to as "the most amazing flatland riders in the world".

I think if you have questions its best to contact the organizers.

I won't be able to make it (ergo Quinn won't be there). WTF is with the Wednesday, seriously? To Al, yes we only ride bikes. But WE ride bikes. So what do WE want? I can't make it to any event on a WEdnesday, I have this Mon-Fri job where the office will actually shut down if I want a day off. In a 9 day event where 4 days are weekend days why is the flatland event taking place during the week? There shouldn't be any problems with double booking the event. I mean who else will use a flat space like we do?

Anyways, we'll have to see how this weekday event goes.

If you don't like how this event is being run, have your own event.  If not, appreciate that some people are having events, even if they may have backed out on us before.

Invighted pros? Are locals going to be able to compete or will there be restrictions (a la, Cru Jones having to sell $20,000 worth of Rad Racing shirts to qualify)?
