Raph won the FISE in Montpellier, France. He had a very good final run and managed to pull most of his backwheel links. Congratulations!
1st Raphael Chiquet
2nd Justin Miller
3rd Matthias Dandois
4th Adam Kun
5th Waldemar Fatkin
6th Martti Kuoppa
7th Viki Gomez
8th Alex Jumelin
The flatland area was smaller than last year and many riders didn´t like the floor. But nevertheless the atmosphere during the finals was very good thanks to the big crowd.

Unless you were there I don't think there is much justification for this.

no question, this trick is awesome, and to combine this trick in that clean way is also nice, but when he will come up with somehing new/other tricks. iam bored :)

I think you guys underestimate how hard that rear wheel pivot behind the back no touching the tire really is. I am sure that he brought a lot more to the table to take the first place against that list of serious heavy hitters. Congrats to Raph, keep doing your thing and don't let the haters get you down.
Peace,
Erik

F-U-C-K haters.
congratulation to raphael for his original difficult unique style..and his winning run..

That's a really f*cking solid run. i can see why he won.
-
whats the high quality code again?
&fmt=18
-
really SOLID run indeed, BUT its basically the same run he has been doing and not winning with for a long time now. im thinkin he placed 1st because he didnt touch down? and/or the other riders didnt bring their "a-game"?
to me, that wasnt a run to beat all those big hitters with.
like i said, that run hasnt won for him in the past, so why now?
something has a weird stink to it.
and before im attacked for being a hater-relax...im not hatin. i think Raphs pivots are dope!
BUT...being that he is riding in a seriously sick and talented pro class, i think he should come to the table with a little more variety to deserve that win.
-
----I don't understand why Raph quit doing front wheel stuff, he had some wicked front wheel moves, seems like he could mix & match and always hit the top 5. And what's with the &fmt=18 code ? I added it, and hit *refresh*, and it looked exactly the same. If that worked, then why wouldn't all videos just have it to start with ?!
jffe
-
yes really solid and repetitive but :
"i think Raphs pivots are dope!" do really think it :-O he is so fast
i think a lot of riders do the same routines with very few variations in the same year. dandois isn't an exception or viki or any Japanese rider
I see raphael riding on the front wheel year ago now ride on rear wheel I think that difference it from the others and bring new style and creativity
-
Not a huge fan of Raph's backwheel tricks, but i agree with the judges. He didn't scuff or touch at all from what i saw. I sure wasn't expecting that footjam decade towards the end.
Everything was smooth and Raph. reminds me of a Dradle.
-
already seen
-
Because raph i've become obsessed with rear wheel tricks, but I still can't comprehend the stable duck.A well deserved win.
-
his run was perfect, ok we have seen it so many times, but its still insane!!! congrats!!!
-
yo misael how are you doing man?
i think 90% of riders nowdays have standard combos that they prepare.
and also why people think raphaels backwheel tricks are nt so dificult as other top riders in pro class?

I have no idea.Although Raph does do the same combo I've never seen anyone do a link like that. When you link tricks so fast and smooth to the point where a viewer can't tell how a rider got from trick a to trick b thats true mastery of a bike
-
Chiquet's run was awesome, I do really like his style - even if I think tottaly giving up the front wheel was the biggist mistake he has made.
However, before I can say if he deserved the win or not, I need to see Millers run.
As much as I rate Miller over Chiquet anyday - its about what happened on THAT day - if Miller wasnt on top game then fair play Chiquet, but i'd love to see Millers run.
-
Why does anyone here feel like they have the sixth sense to assume that Miller should have beaten Raph?
Just because someone is a good rider does not mean that they can't f*ck up constantly. Check Martti getting like 17th place or something ridiculous at the 2004 x games where Simon won. He didn't even qualify.
Stop assuming you know who is going to win based on your personal preferences. From what I can tell Raphael hit a super sick run with NO touches, and some really really original/hard tricks. What's to question here?
-
why i can't do even 1% of his trick?
that's the question right there.
-
do you think that at the end of his run he was like, "I think i'll do a whopper" and then just busts it? f*cktarded, yeah ive seen it before but never that smooth or clean. grats raph, your rock my socks
-
incredible run of Raph, he deserves the victory, i can`t understand why are people that just like to criticize, maybe you have to ask yourself why you can`t be so original and can`t so so many hard things like he does if you are better than he you can say that he do not deserves to be in 1st place i you can`t beat him just do not say nothing.
and about he does the same other times, is true but, how many time do you use to change all that you do??? so last year he rides front wheel and now he rides back wheel so, can you change an let out a lot of your tricks and do new and original tricks in the same time that he does??? ask yourself and after you can question what others do.
-
He was smooth as glass, tweaked his positions nicely, no touch run with foot jam decade rideout and whopper rideout...what's not to like?
-
Killer Chiquet really busted some solid stuff. The top ten pros are always getting shuffled around in the final placings. Seems like the top three just have less touches. That gives me hope in a way. hahaha
props raph

from all the footage I've seen, I think Waldemar deserved more. fast and versatile style, getting out of the most seriously complicated sh*t without any problems...
this guy is to continue rising.
-
Raph is the sh*t!
I been working on tons of backwheel stuff. That sh*t he is doing is unworldy insanely hard to impossible! And smooth all day long.... not only that he never touched!
Simply amazing and totally luv'n the backwheel action Raph...cooool stuff man!!
As far as I am concerned anyone who placed in the top are winners. I could never ride amongst those group of riders...sheesssh... that be funny...lol....so to even be in that league and placing last...I mean still look at the competition!
-
So...why doesn't Lee Musselwhite compete? Or...does he?
thanks

I saw the same footage you did from the video on here, and I can tell you that Waldemars stuff from IN CONTEST isn't nearly as hard as Raphs.
-
I personally don't see it. It looks like virtually the same thing over and over and over again with little variation. Not saying I could do it, but even if he didn't touch, I still don't see that beating out some of the other rider's runs even if they did have some touches. I thought that several of the riders single "links" alone were better than his entire run. Anyhow, on to the next comp.
-
I think Raph deserved the win from what I've seen. Sure you can argue he's been doing the same/similar links in recent contests but so what. He's not being judged on whether or not he's bringing something new to the contest. They're all being judged on what they throw down plus consistency, style, difficulty. Raph's run has them all in bucket-loads.
Si.

agree'd but i think the BAD team should all lose points for style. cos they all look pretty gay tbh.

Personally I think they have a pretty rad style and have mad respect for going out and dressing differently than everyone else.

From the pictures you put up of yourself a while back. just because someone posts 18 times doesn't mean they havn't lurked for years.
-
----Jeez, somebody give the fashion police a day off. If they could ride half as good as the French crew, they'd have the confidence to ride mis-matched wheels/tires and wear short shorts in comps ha-ha.

Raph has opened up what is possible on the backwheel in a completely new and original way.all riders should appreciate that ,if you cant see that you should'nt talk sh*t about something you dont understand.raph brought the future into the present.congrats on your win raph ,long overdue phil
