On the 8th of January some of the Melbourne riders got together for a jam while Japanese rider Eiji Kataoka was in town for a short stay. New Zealand transplant and all round top fella June Dungca sent in a few words and photos from the day.
“The actually day started pretty badly with Thunderstorms in the morning threatening to cancel the jam but luckily it cleared up later on to allow for it. I know myself and some others would’ve shown up regardless of the weather but having a nice day would just make things that much better.
I got there after 2pm and Grant Cruise, Sean Chua and Eiji were already there. We had the pleasure of Phillip Früh joining us as the afternoon progressed. The vibe was pretty chill and it was good enough to provide that bit of extra motivation for us all to give a pretty good effort with our riding that day.
In between proper riding sessions were spent hanging out, talking about any topic that comes up and mucking around with our bikes and a some fixies lent by a couple of guys that came down to watch. The M.I.N.E. game was started again courtesy of Phillip Früh and already claimed its first victims for 2012 with yours truly and Sean going down on the ground. I’m sure it’ll claim more in the upcoming DUG events.
The jam ended late in the afternoon with everyone saying their goodbyes and heading their own ways hopefully motivated enough to keep going throughout the summer!
Eiji will still be in Melbourne until Friday and he’ll be up for a ride then most days at IMAX so come down if you can!”
If you’re in Brisbane watch out for Eiji Kataoka there very soon.
