A bicycle tour with Shayne KhajehnooriView Larger Map
On the account of a couple cracked ribs, I decided to take a vacation from BMX, and test out my bicycle touring legs. After a quick look at the map, I noticed Bodega Bay isn't too far from Santa Rosa. A nice vacation at the beach was in order.
So, I packed up the camping gear, prepared some pre-rolls and loaded up the rear rack of my Kona Smoke.
The ride to the beach is quite nice. A really mellow pedestrian path takes you into the hippy retreat of Sebastapol which prides itself on being a nuclear free zone.
A few hours later, I arrived at the Dunes Campground. I snuck in at dusk and set up a renegade camp in the dunes, thinking I could save five bucks.
Day 2, I leisurely peddled my way up and down the coastal highway, exploring the beaches and enjoying the smell of backyard grows coming to fruition. I attempted another free night of camping in the dunes, but was interrupted by two park police officers, while I was enjoying a good-night blunt in my tent. I presented the officers with my ID and 215 card (licensed and legal), and after inspecting my stash of pre-rolls, they actually complemented me on my rolling ability. They just asked that I move to the designated campsite and pay $10 for my two nights of camping. Only in California.
Day 3, I woke up and enjoyed some coffee with a local hippie who just returned from Burning Man. His specific camp was themed a trampoline camp. Imagine lots of busty hippie chicks bouncing around on trampolines all day. No wonder this man is so cheery.
I get back in the saddle and tear off for Santa Rosa. I'm back, and it's time to get to work!Created with Admarket's flickrSLiDR.
