It was on the 16th of December 2006, that 9 international riders came together for the first time in an indoor spot in Faro, Portugal for the 1st Winter South Jam.
Riders such as David Lundquist, Aet and Shane Badman, had been in the south of Portugal for some winter training fun and that gave me the oppertunity to take advantage of their presence to motivate the Portuguese riders and help showcase flatland in Portugal.
We started riding at 14:00; we had music, a spectacular spot, super friendly riders and various spectators dropping by all day, which all made for a very good flatland atmosphere.
As we had some prizes to give out, we had one semi-formal part, a best trick contest which was sponsored by “esterisco” clothing. Everybody rode in a 40 minute jam and had as many tries as they wanted to show their best trick or combo, there was a lot of good riding going on, and in the end Pedro Melo dazzled us all with his originality and the results were like this:

It was a great afternoon, spent with very motivated riders, and made a nice, fun end to 2006 for the national flatland scene, giving some positive thoughts for better days for flatland in Portugal in the future.
I'd like to thank Associaçao de Musicos, I CAN C U, for making the place available to us, esterisco and Chocolate Bars for the prizes, the Outriding Forums for helping promote the event and Colin Smith for production of the video, which will give an glimpse inside the event.
