Adam, we all know you, but nevertheless please introduce yourself!
Adam Kun, 25 years old, im a pro flatland rider and I live in Budapest, Hungary...and I cant live without Wi-fi!
How has riding for Monster affected your lifestyle and plans for the future?
Monster came into my life at the perfect time....It opened a lot of doors and the best thing is that now I only have to focus on riding. All I have to do is what I have always wanted to do in my life and I have all the support. Thanks to Monster Im a full time pro rider, its still an unbelievable feeling. I cant thank Monster Energy enough.
You went to California this summer. Please tell us about that trip!
Yeah, It was a "dream come true" kind of thing. This was my first visit to the USA and it was amazing. My Monster boss Joe invited me to California , to perform a show at the Monster Headquarters for the big boss and the workers. They installed a small stage at the front of the office building for me, I met the Boss and the employees who take such good care of me and the other Monster riders. I also discovered California a bit, went to the desert to drive a buggy and went to the Cali Adventure park. I rode with the local riders at a jam, Bobby Carter drove me to Hollywood and I was invited to the X-Games too as a VIP guest. After the X-Games Monster had an awesome party at downtown LA, on the roof of the Grammy museum with all the Monster riders ..it was a blast! So many things happened, im filled with adventures, it was probably the best trip of my life! Can´t wait to go back to the States!
As far as we know you are riding many shows besides all the contests. Do you feel like you have enough time to practice and learn new tricks?
Yes, I did a lots of shows this year, in Greece, Cyprus and here in Hungary too. When im home I have enough time to practice. I cant practice the same trick for weeks or months. I dont practice my new tricks too much, when I´m in the mood to ride a lot, and the more motivated that I am, the easier I can learn my new tricks. Luckily I dont have to ride like a machine to improve!
Videomaker Tom aka Sevisual filmed and edited some of your best videos. How important is it to have someone who has the patience to film something like the Monster whip?
Tom is my best friend and I owe him many thanks..the videos he made over the last few years have become very popular within the flatland community. His videos have helped a lot with showing my riding style and tricks around the globe. Its also great for my sponsors too...Actually about the Monster Whip video, that took about 25 minutes or so to film....so f*ck patience:)...time is money.
Matthias and you seemed to be best friends about 3 years ago when ´Hyperspeed Johnny and the Destruction Kid´ and other great edits came out. How is your friendship today?
He is my lil french brother. Matthias n me first met at the 2006 Ninja Spin then I visited him in the same summer for about 2 months. Since then we made a couple of videos together and im sure we will continue to. We are still very good friends and its always good to meet him and ride, talk or party together. When Im in France I always travel with the french guys (Matt, Alex, Raph) and we always have a good time. Thnx Boys!
What´s your opinion on the current mixing street and flatland trend?
I dont know....I ride BMX flatland. Our bikes are gettin similar to street bikes but its only a trend. (however it makes our bikes stronger which is a good thing!)
Do you have any other interests or hobbies outside of Flatland?
Chill with my friends, travel, concerts, parties and surfin on the net....
How do you feel being such an inspiration to others?
Its an awesome feeling that my riding influences the next generation riders and I hope that they get my message that your riding has to be original instead of using existing tricks and mixing them together. If You just learn all the existing tricks then that is all about practice, but if you want more, you have to start creating your own tricks - that is the essence of the real flatland.
You are probably known as the face of Flatland for KHE... could you ever imagine riding for another company, or starting one of your own?
KHE Bikes is an amazing company, very innovative and im really happy to be on the team. In 2012 my second signature frame is coming out, and its an incredible feeling. I dont want to change my bike company - our relationship is great and we can work together really well. Im not planning to start my own company yet, that takes a lot of time n energy and Id rather travel or ride my bike or work on new tricks.
Thanks!
