Name, Sponsors, Years riding…

Keelan Phillips, KHE hook me up with some parts, riding about 11 years.

imageWhat is your earliest memory of BMX?  How did it make you feel?
Me and my cousin riding crappy bikes, and we got hold of a BMX mag an thought it was the best thing ever, then a VHS came next, then flatland was for me, he chose street…

When did you realise that you were a pro rider?
I entered my first pro comp and just didn’t want to come last, think I came 11th out of 18 so was pretty happy, but I was most happy when I came up with my first original trick, then spent ages watching every video out there to see if anyone had done it.

What’s your proudest achievement in BMX so far?
Just the tricks I’ve invented!  It feels good to have created stuff, adding to flatland. Winning some comps is good, but not what I’m most proud of.

What influences you when you’re riding?  Do you listen to music, or just ride?  Are there any riders that influence you?
Yea I do listen to a lot of music when riding, so many UK mc’s that I love right now, and there’s a load of cool riders, but only about 5 riders out there that I love to watch.

Is there a goal you’re aiming for with your riding, or a certain trick or link you’re working on?
I just like to have fun, but also yes I’m always working on stuff, throwin’ stuff together, and working on new tricks and links.

The BMX Battle series have been brilliant events… I may be a little biased here, but they are some of the best times I’ve had in BMX.  Do you have a vision in mind, and is there an overall ambition for the events?
Yea, I can’t afford to go to all the worldwide comps, so why not have one just as good if not better here! That’s what I wanna do, any big comp out there, I’ll match it and put it on in the UK!!

I’m lucky enough to have ridden with you in jams and comps, and you’ve helped my riding no end… I know you do classes with kids at schools and at fairs and other events.  How does teaching others what you know make you feel?
It feels good. But it’s good because out of every 10 kids, there’s always a couple that you can tell are naturally good at it, so it can be exciting.

Have you got any last words or thoughts before we wrap this up? Would you like to mention and thank anyone?
Jus a thanks to all my friends, I would like a sponsor to get me to all the worldwide comps cuz I miss them!!
